UPM Plywood sponsors The Finnish Soul Garden at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show 2020. The garden rejoices the International Year of Plant Health 2020 and the 40th anniversary of approaching into the potency of the first Convention of The Protection of Baltic Sea Area, according to “The Helsinki Convention.”

The Finnish Soul Garden is made on elements that are diligently associated with Finnish characteristics: sauna, large rocks, and natural vegetation; traditional summer flowers and deciduous trees.

The seaside and the opening view to the nearby islands are part of the souls of many Finns. “It is a haven with an atmosphere of relaxation, recuperation, and recreation,” describes Taina Suonio, an environmental biologist and landscape designer, who has designed her personal show garden at Chelsea Flower Show for the second year in a row. Last year, her show garden was awarded as the first runner-up, the Silver-gilt.

The Chelsea Flower Show is one of the prominent gardening events in the world. The 2020 edition of the five-day event will be held between 19 and 23 May in the grounds of the Royal Hospital Chelsea in London, UK. The Royal Horticultural Society (RHS) has planned the event at the same place after the 1912 event.

“Biodiversity and the liveliness of forests are important. The well-forested trees grow and bind carbon dioxide from the air, which is retained in wood products for decades. For example, one cubic meter of WISA plywood can store up to 1.000 kg of carbon dioxide depending on the type of wood”, says Ari Voutilainen, the head of UPM Plywood’s Stakeholder Relations.
